Hiking Miro Mountain
Jacó, Costa Rica was one of the towns my friends and I visited quite often during our semester abroad. We could buy bus tickets online and it was roughly an hour to an hour and a half drive to the beach. Perfect way to catch some rays after class or spend an easy going weekend.
During one of my visits to Jacó, my friend’s family and I went on a hike to Miro Mountain. Miro Mountain is an awesome view point that overlooks the entire town of Jacó and beyond. To get there walk down to the very south end of town along the main road and you will find the trail entrance. From there just hike on up! There is a cool photo spot you can stop at along the way.
Later on you come to this view!
On our way down we noticed some kids coming out of an overgrown path, so we decided to check it out. What we came upon was simply amazing.
This huge abandoned building stood near the edge of a cliff with incredible views of Jacó. It had been redecorated with impressive graffiti.
As we explored the area further, we found that this part of Jacó was in fact an abandoned zip lining course.
After a we had our fair share of trekking up steep hills and almost busting out butts a few times we headed back down to town. It was a wonderful hike and I highly recommend it if you have a couple hours to kill.
