Life Updates: 2024 has been a whirlwind of change

Life Updates: 2024 has been a whirlwind of change and blessings for us thus far. We ended our travel nursing chapter in January and settled in Michigan. I started a new job as a Resource RN. Then all in a week I turned 30 and we closed on our “new” 1910’s farmhouse. Just in time for us to give it our personal touch before welcoming our sweet baby girl in August! We are more than ready for this slower paced life and are beyond excited for what is to come as this year progresses.

Our small oasis. After spending a week in touristy and bustling cities we were ready for some seclusion and relaxation. Lotus Field Homestay provided this for us. It was a breath of fresh air-literally-being out in the middle of lotus fields. The surrounding scenery was stunning and the sounds of nature were what lulled us to sleep at night. Partners in crime. Every morning these goobers would raid the fridge for snacks before breakfast. They would then go sit outside in this chair to talk and laugh while enjoying their plunder. We would have it no other way. A camera simply cannot put these massive cliffs into perspective. They are gigantic, towering beings. Their energy for me felt strong and powerful. Like a mother of this land protecting and keeping watch over her people and nature within for thousands of years. Tam Coc is the most popular thing to see in Ninh Binh but it is completely worth the hype (in my opinion). #ninhbinh #vietnam

Our daily bike rides into the “city” of Ninh Binh consisted of dodging pot holes and oxen pies, riding through tall grass and avoiding all the motorbikes BUT it also consisted of smelling the fresh air of the countryside, watching ducklings play and absorbing all the stunning scenery we would miss passing by in a taxi. Worth it in my opinion

During our 3 week trip to Vietnam, Ninh Bình was our favorite overall location. We stayed at a stunning homestay out in the middle of rice fields, climbed to the dragon on the top of Grotte de Hang Mua and went on a paddle boat through Tam Coc. There were several new foods we ate and friendly locals we met. The air was sooo fresh and the landscape sooo lush. I dream of returning to this piece of paradise one day.

Wow our first week in Vietnam was crazy! Between adjusting to time zones, learning some of the language and trying to cross the busiest streets with two toddlers we were buzzing with excitement and energy. We were also a bit tired so thankfully during our second week we stayed at some very relaxing locations.

If there were two photos that showed my second chi

If there were two photos that showed my second child’s personality the best it would be these two. First photo- She is laughing and playing/being ornery with her brother. Second photo- She is throwing her head back as the wind whips her hair in her face, loving life and the moment. She is my goofy, wild hearted daredevil of a child. She had no fear when it comes to experiences. She will jump in the pool with her floaties, climb as high as she can before we help her down and wants to pet every animal she can. Her heart knows no boundaries. The love this girl shows others, especially when they are feeling down is inspiring. She is our Josie Jo and we love her endlessly.
